DAY 1: AIRPORT – NEGOMBO

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport and after collecting your baggage, you will be met and greeted by the company representative and transferred to Negombo.

Check in at the hotel and relax.

Overnight stay at Jetwing Blue or a similar standard.

DAY 2: NEGOMBO – PINNAWALA - KANDY (B,D)

After breakfast, proceed to Kandy.

En route, visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is situated approximately 90 km from Colombo. The orphanage was originally founded in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation. It aims to provide care and protection for orphaned baby wild elephants found wandering in the forests of Sri Lanka. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage also places an emphasis on breeding and ongoing research for these gentle giants.

Upon arrival, begin a city tour of Kandy.

Last ruled by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe before it was brought under British rule in 1815, Kandy, a World Heritage Site and the last royal capital of Sri Lankan kings, offers visitors a rich blend of culture, history, and heritage. A stroll through this small lakeside town, cradled among misty hills, will feature the Kandy City Centre, which is filled with the latest world-class brands, a bazaar, an arts and crafts centre, as well as a gem museum and lapidary. Take in the colour as you glide through the fresh fruits and vegetables of the Kandy market. Fine-tune your evening by stepping to the beat of traditional music and drumming at a cultural show that showcases the rich and vibrant culture of Sri Lanka, the Wonder of Asia.

Overnight stay at Amaya Hills or a similar standard.

DAY 3: KANDY – PERADENIYA – NUWARA ELIYA (B,D)

After an early breakfast, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya.

First developed as a pleasure garden under royalty and later harmonised by the British, the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, located just 4 miles from Kandy, are a flourishing national asset in the Wonder of Asia. Walk through this 147-acre garden, passing well-tended lawns, pavilions, and an octagonal conservatory, before being greeted by the vast expanse of magnificently landscaped lush green turf, perfect for an exhilarating break.

Towards the north of the entrance is a cafeteria, which you may come across before stepping into some of the highlights of this place, such as the orchid house and the giant Javan fig tree, both of which overflow with grace.

Upon completion, check out from your hotel and transfer to Nuwara Eliya.

Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, begin a city tour.

Your day in Nuwara Eliya starts with a view of the iconic Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, one of Asia’s oldest, before heading into town to admire the historic Tudor-style post office and other colonial-era landmarks like the HNB Bank, Nuwara Eliya Police Station, St. Xavier’s Church, and the prestigious Grand Hotel. Next, you’ll visit the serene Victoria Park, perfect for a leisurely walk, followed by a stop at the Nuwara Eliya Racecourse, a charming remnant of British colonial influence. You’ll then head to Lake Gregory, a scenic man-made lake surrounded by mountains, offering water sports and peaceful views. From there, explore the Sita Amman Temple and Hakgala Botanical Gardens, part of the legendary ‘Ashoka Vatika’ with their rich historical and floral significance. On your return, indulge at a local strawberry farm with fresh treats before wrapping up the day with a visit to Bale Bazaar, a popular flea market known for winter wear bargains.

Overnight stay at Blackpool Resort & Spa or a similar standard.

DAY 4: NUWARA ELIYA - YALA (B,D)

Rise early to proceed to the World’s End trek.

The World’s End trek is a moderately strenuous hike, distinct from the more challenging Knuckles Mountain Range trekking. This scenic trail takes approximately 3 hours to complete, offering breathtaking views and a rewarding adventure. As you hike, you’ll traverse through the lush greenery of Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The trek leads you to the dramatic cliff of World’s End, where you’ll be greeted by stunning panoramic views of the valley below and, on clear days, the Indian Ocean in the distance. Along the way, you’ll also pass Baker’s Falls, a picturesque waterfall cascading down the rocks, and have the opportunity to spot various wildlife, including sambar deer and numerous bird species. This trek is a perfect blend of natural beauty and adventure, making it a must-do experience.

Upon completion, check out from your property and proceed to Yala.

Check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight stay at Chaarya Resort & Spa or a similar standard.

DAY 5: YALA (B,D)

Rise early to embark on a game drive at Yala National Park.

Yala, with its tanks and dunes, is rightfully the heartland of wildlife in Sri Lanka. As your jeep rumbles through the giant gates of Yala, you are not only entering the most visited national park in the country but also lands connected to a civilisation that thrived during the reign of Sri Lankan kings. You name it, and Yala has it! Its usual inhabitants include herds of elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, jackals, extensive birdlife, and one of the highest densities of leopards in the world, making the park one of the finest wildlife destinations in the country. Feel the rough track as your jeep thunders over rocks and swishes past narrow bends for an exhilarating experience, blended with the cries of the wilderness under the tropical sun.

Return to your hotel upon completion and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight stay at Chaarya Resort & Spa or a similar standard.

DAY 6: YALA - COLOMBO (B,D)

After an early breakfast, check out from your property and transfer to Colombo.

Upon arrival, enjoy a city tour in Colombo.

The throbbing metropolis of Colombo, located in the west, is not only the country’s commercial capital but also the engine that drives more than 50% of the national GDP, alongside Colombo’s impressive urban development efforts. Drive along the clean streets edging the crystal-white Race Course, a horse-racing hub in 1893 and a World War II airstrip, now furnished with lavish clothing, food, and tea boutiques.

Meanwhile, ride to Pettah and tune into the Floating Market, an offbeat shopping experience, or feel the buzz surrounding the upcoming Colombo Port City, an offshore city featuring parks, commercial complexes, and even an F1 track. Head along Bauddhaloka Mawatha towards Arcade Independence Square, facing the historic Independence Square. Designer boutiques, top-notch cuisine outlets, and even the walk-over fish tank have revamped this colonial masterpiece into one of the trendiest shopping and hangout zones in Sri Lanka. Have a chilled beer at the Dutch Hospital while gazing through fancy windows showcasing the best fashion, jewellery, and handicraft brands.

Smell the scent of incense while listening to the chiming bells of Gangaramaya Temple. Or, jazz up Colombo’s nightlife, spiced by nightclubs and casinos that border its bustle. If you’re lucky, head into an exhibition at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) before swaying your head to an opera or play at Nelum Pokuna, which should bring your day to perfection!

Check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight stay at Radisson Colombo Hotel or a similar standard.
